Morning all,

The day still young, i have awoken early to get a nice start on the rest of the banners for the site,

Winamp rolls into the second minute of Corpral Jigsaw Quandry from Carcass and i wonder -

The many N00b metal heads in this town wouldnt have experienced what it was like to grow up in to Metaldom, and i ask,

Is there any "old Skoolers" out there that think its plauseable to have a band whoms whole pourpose is to cover some of the old stuff to give the new kids the idea of what they listen to now, came from years of inspirations from bands like Venom, Slayer, Carcass, Entombed , Morbid Angel, Napalm Death, the list goes on...

Thoughts?

I use to be into metal quite a bit when I was in my teens (My Dying Bride, Nevermore, Mourning Beloveth, Kataklysm, Dark Tranquillity) but I have really grown out of it. There are a few metal bands I still listen but not many. The majority of metal is lame as are a lot of metal fans.

Slayer suck. Have always ******* sucked.

Riigghhtt...
see alot of the impressions tend to go that people that drop out of metal were never really into it, and tend to be posers more than anything...

its like someone once said to me that oh, i cant listen to mr bungle any more because i stopped smoking weed,....

and even though mr bungles not exactly main stream nor metal,
its kinda a really crap excuse, which means they only got into it because it was "cool" at the time,

and if slayer suck - thats cool, but remember Metallica are gay,
at least slayer doesnt need "band councilling"

Although thanks for your insightful words Fedx, its good to see we are getting new new posters... or posers ...

Slayer may be all well and good but there is nothing that shits me more than die hard 'oldschoolers' who wont look at anything that isn't at least 20 years old Razz. I respect where metal originated but i'd hate to think you guys write off .. parkway drive? lamb of god. man those two bands are kick ass. some of the riffs lamb of god come up with make me want to just cream myself haha.

am i the only one who likes the new gear? or is this old dudes exclusive..

agreed davo,
however i keep the reality of saying that bands like lamb of god wouldnt be where they are without bands like the "old skoolers"

Me myself i keep up with metal and all its pathways, however i must say nothing pisses me off more than fools that think that a down tuned sound, and so called "evil" lyrics constitute as metal,

metal has always been an expression of hatred and aggression,
and its awsome that kids are learning the ropes, but no - there are plenty out there that are made by producers and record companys.. this is where we break down - hence slipknot and trivium and so on,

what happened to just having a f#$^ing mad riff and just building on it...

i am a self professed "old skooler" because i grew into metal, it was my thing and always will be,

Metal will always be an attitude, a way of life, and a sound that makes you call a stranger a freind because of a common interest...

Im not a hippy by any means and metal means alot to many, but hell... the point is, without cream, hendrix, and so on wouldnt be iron maiden, or judas preist, nor the rest that followed.

Im a mad grind fan always will be, but i appreciate the roots of the sound...

Yanno what... is so damn cool that there are locals having a chat about metal, who cares if we have our own ideals, its still something to be happy with.

Keep posting animals, because im gonna keep replying..

Oh p.s. ive been out drinking with Admin hes been corrupting me with beer!
hahahah

sure sure capt, ive been to your place. there's linkin park cd's everywhere and posters all over the walls.

oh by the way dude, how ******* cool is Gorjira? I'm digging the massive riffs they have. Kind of remind me of Dagoba. I'm keen to jam with ya as im not longer full time in a band, but i wanna talk to you more in depth about what i wanna do. not all out brutal stuff. but something "kinda" different, Mnemic, Bleeding Through, Gorjira, Dagoba, DevilDriver, etc etc. massive heavy riffs and grind vocals. hit me up on msn tell me what you think.

I'm kinda with fedexpope on this one and have to disagree with you cap. I was into nothing but metal when i was in my early teens, played drums and guitar for a few years, but simply just grew out of it and discovered other types of music. It's got nothing to do with the fact that i "wasn't really into it" or being a "poser" at all. I just started craving something more.
I still like some heavy music (opeth meshuggah dillinger escape plan katatonia etc) but it's not the only thing i listen to anymore. I actually feel sorry for people that only listen to one thing.

And for the record i quit smoking pot many years ago and still enjoy mr bungle Smile
